Ilein Bermúdez is a highly accomplished Venezuelan-born Dutch cellist, recognized for her expressive artistry and deep commitment to musical excellence. She rose to prominence after winning the 2000 Carlos Prieto Latin American Violoncello Competition in Mexico. A graduate of the Juan José Landaeta National Conservatory in Venezuela, Ilein also broadened her horizons through a year-long exchange program in Germany and further honed her craft in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed cellists such as Frans Helmerson, Arto Noras, Philippe Müller, and Roel Dieltiens.

With a rich background in orchestral and chamber music, Ilein has performed extensively with professional ensembles in Venezuela and beyond. Her versatility and passion for collaboration have shaped her performing career.

Driven by a deep passion for education, Ilein earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 2019. She went on to receive a Master’s in Music Education with Distinction from the Institute of Education at University College London, and later, a Cum Laude Master’s in Music from Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam in 2022.

Now based in The Netherlands, Ilein leads a dynamic dual career as both educator and performer. She is active in a variety of musical settings, with a particular focus on nuevo tango. Her expertise in the genre has led to invitations to perform across Europe as a guest cellist with acclaimed tango ensembles from Buenos Aires, including Astillero and Dominga Tango.
